START WITH ME
Our new normal has forced our youth to "function in dysfunction" with no road map, blueprint, or GPS to guide them through. Our programs gives young people an opportunity to exercise their right to freedom of speech and self expression. We promote facilitated discussions that give young people the space and support they need to develop a full identity, realize their self-worth, and find their voice in an increasingly complicated world. We all have inherent value as human beings, and no one person's value is more or less than anyone else's. Our young people are learning to "function in dysfunction' and it is our goal to mobilize our youth, their peers and families to work towards positive change.
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH
Speak Your Truth works to find ways to break down barriers in communication between parents and their teenage children. Working to establish trusted dialogue encourages young people to become more confidently engaged and involved. Good communication and meaningful conversations enhance understanding and inspires confidence that problems can be solved—together. We encourage parents and youth to learn tools to become better listeners, show gratitude, be expressive, encourage each other, and create space for positive communication.
HEAR OUR VOICES
Hear Our Voices helps our youth develop and amplify their voices through various non-partisan , non violent platforms. We offer youth "A Seat at the Table", a platform where young people have the opportunity to engage in thought provoking conversations with leaders in our community on relevant topics such as police brutality, racial disparities, history (civil rights), and other current events. Youth are also able to express themselves through visual arts, writing, music and other creative means. Hear Our Voices ensures young people are able to speak freely for themselves and convey their thoughts and emotions about the issues that they are facing.
ART OF RECOVERY
No More Living In Fear! The Art of Recovery helps our youth recover what they think they have lost. Whether it's their voice, their innocence, health, mind, or strength. Through art therapy, we guide youth to and through rediscovering themselves. We use positive reassurance and affirmations to teach them to take charge and be bold.
An open and honest discussion on breaking down barriers in communication between parents and their teenage children. This session will discuss tools, rules, and resources to aid in creating better channels of communicating about difficult subjects.
